Class of 2021

With the Ceramic and Leather Industry producing so much waste, and the rising need of an alternative to cement, Le’Cera is a sustainable material developed using Ceramic waste powder and Leather shavings as a resource to make mortar which is used in construction or plasters used for tile cladding on bricks. In various studies, ceramic has proved to be an appropriate alternative to cement as it possesses the required characteristics. Leather on the other hand has properties that not only help it act as a binder but also provide additional functions to than cement.

Leather shavings and ceramic clay mixed in different proportions leading to a variety of textures.

Le’Cera mortar applied to bricks for testing the durability and strengths.

Mixing Ceramic Waste Powder, Ceramic clay, Leather shavings & dink (natural gum) to form the mortar paste.
